How Well Do You Know Your Tracktown USA Facts?
Every summer, Hayward Field is home to the All Comers Meet. This event has been happening every summer since the 1950s. Students age 12 and younger can participate on one day and students 13 participate on another day. You can learn more by clicking on https://www.oregontrackclub.com/summer-all-comers-meets
Hayward Field was originally built in 1919.
Steve Prefontaine is a symbol of Eugene Track & Field. He was a University of Oregon runner who held every American record from the 2,000 to the 10,000-meter mark during his career before his tragic death in 1975 at age 24

Fall Festival in One Week
Getting family together is always fun. On Sunday, October 4 we will have a chance to get our extended school family and church families together at our annual ECA Fall Festival. This really is a fun way to start the Fall season. There will be game booths, a bounce house, food booths, and plenty of time to connect with friends. Plan now for a fun day. Each classroom will have two booths. Teachers do need help running classroom booths. If you would like to help run a booth for one hour, please reach out to your homeroom teacher. It is a fun way to meet students and a great way to be involved with our school.
Regular school day for Grades 7&8 on Tuesday, September 29
While the students in grades 1-6 are away on the marine harbor cruise, there will be regular school classes for students in grades 7&8. Even though Mr. Gaylor will be gone, students will have assignments left with Ms. Lidia for the day.
Grades 1-6 Field Trip to Newport, Oregon on Tuesday, September 29
Students in grades 1-6 will be having a field trip to the Oregon Coast too! Thank you parents for signing up. To help you plan for the day, we will be leaving school on Tuesday, September 29 at 8:15 and should return between 3:30 and 4:00. Please remember that there will not be microwaves to heat up any food your child will be taking.
No School - Monday, October 5
Our teachers have four days throughout the year when they participate in professional growth. These days happen in October, November, February, and April. These PLC days happen during our Friday 1/2 chapel weeks. We will have regular school hours Tuesday through Thursday, followed by our regular 1/2 day Friday during those weeks.
No Hot Lunch this Week.
Hot lunch will resume next week. The menu for October will be posted in next week’s newsletter. Meals for students in grades 1-2 are $5. For students in grades 3-8, meals are $6. Meals can be ordered and charged to your credit card that is on file. You can click on the hot lunch order link in the weekly newsletter, or can be ordered through the website in the student life tab.
Christian Counseling Available - Free Resources:
The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.
We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.
These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.
In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
