Looking Forward to the Sunshine
At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.
The power of the sun!
Our bodies are wonderfully made. With a little sunshine each day, we have a system that produces vitamin D as we absorb sunlight. What does that mean for us now that we have an extra hour of sunshine in our lives?
Vitamin D is healthy for our bodies,
It boosts the release of serotonin, which helps lift our spirits and energy,
It helps us with our sleep patterns,
Our brain is stimulated in several places by sunlight.
But what about the power of God’s “son” in our lives? That can do amazing things all-year long!
“For God, who said, ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. - 2 Corinthians 4:6
Front Office - Progress
We are making progress on filling our front-office position. As we continue this process, there will still be hours in the middle of the day when the office is empty. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.
The principal will be in the office during the first 15 minutes of every day, from 12:30-12:50, and during the last hour of the day.
The RING doorbell and office door cam are both tied to the principal’s phone. By ringing the center RING doorbell, you will reach the principal’s phone if you need assistance throughout the day.
5-Day Week
This week is our monthly 1/2 day Friday and morning chapel. Classes will go from 8:00 until 12:30. There is a two-hour afterschool on chapel days until 2:30.
Helping Out Our 8th Grade Class - Thursday, March 12
This year’s ECA class of 2026 is excited for the rest of the school year. One of the perks of an 8th grade graduation is an 8th grade class trip. You can help support our 8th graders and have a wonderful meal at the same time. Have a great meal and support our 8th grade class. No paper or pamphlet is needed; just let them know you are part of the Emerald Christian Academy group!
AG Program - Monday’s Science Class
Tomorrow, our AG Class will be for grades 7&8. Students will be outdoors doing a variety of things with Mr. Wyatt Johnson. Throughout the year, there may be a few rainy days. Boots and gloves are great things for working outdoors on Monday Science Days. Water bottles are great things to have outside too. Here is a schedule of the days and classes:
Monday, March 9 - Grades 7&8
Monday, March 16 - Grades 5&6
K-4 Swimming Lessons Will Begin this week.
During the weeks of March 9-12 and March 16-19, students in grades K-4 will have swim lessons at the Willamalane Swim Center on Mohawk Boulevard in Springfield. The swim times M-Th will be from 10:35-11:35. Parents are welcome to come and watch children. Students should plan on bringing a swim suit and towel for each day in a swim bag.
We will be leaving school at 10:00 and taking the bus each day. There is no extra charge for these lessons. It is included in your child’s tuition.

The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.
We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.
These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.
In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
