Getting Better Every Day

At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.

Hello ECA family,

A shorter newsletter this week, but an important week… tomorrow, our school will be visited by an accreditation committee. The committee is made up of superintendents, principals, and teachers from the OR conference. This is a normal process that happens every five years. Over the past few months, our school has conducted a self-study that has encompassed the areas you see above. Each standard has several categories that we need to evaluate and provide evidence as we strive to get better. We closely look at about 200 items and closely examine our effectiveness at meeting standards set by independent accreditation organizations.

You are an important part of our school family and want you to know we are excited to continue to grow and look forward to this review process. Our community is made up of many wonderful volunteers and classroom helpers, but even more than that, our school families help create a community of stakeholders that have a goal: providing the best education possible for our children and making a relationship with Jesus a homework lesson that lasts for all eternity.

Thank you again for trusting us with your child’s education.

Spring MAP Testing is the Week

This week, students will have their last round of testing. The areas that we test are reading comprehension, language usage, and mathematics. Students in K-4 will test from 8:30 - 10:00 each morning. Students in grades 5-8 will test from 10:00 - 11:30. Any makeup tests will be completed this Thursday.

Make-up School Days Are Finalized and Scheduled

We are down to our last makeup day. It will be on the first Friday in May and will be 8:00 - 12:30 times. There will be no after-school program on this Friday. Home & School will provide an additional hot lunch.

P/T Conferences THIS Thursday & Friday, April 25-26

Plan now for this week’s P/T conferences by calling our school office to set up appointment times for your child. Because we are needing to schedule times for all of our familes for P/T conferences, this Thursday, April 25, will be a 1/2 day. School will be let out at at 12:30. We will NOT be having an afterschool program on that day. P/T conferences will then begin at 2:00 and go into the evening. Conferences will resume the next day, Friday. If either of these days do not work for you, please contact your homeroom teacher to schedule a time.

If you still need to schedule a time, you can also call the office before 12:30 on Thursday, April 25 to sign up. Slots are first come, first served, so call sooner rather than later.

Again, here is a reminder about the times and conferences:

Christian Counseling Available - Free Resources:

The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.

We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.

These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.

In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
