Celebrating 250 Years
At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.
Washington, DC: There’s No Better Place to Make History
July 4, 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. ECA is excited to be taking our students in grades 7&8 to our nation’s capital for the next two weeks. We look forward to sharing exciting memories and moments when we return. In the meantime, if you would like to see more about our country’s 250th celebration, follow the link below!
Two hundred fifty years seems like a long time; in Europe the evidence of 2,000 years is everywhere. In the middle east, archaeologists unravel the passages of time in amazing ways. So many years, but one thing is constant through it all - a loving God. Revelation 22:13 reminds us that “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” So what does the Bible tell us about our creator and time? I’m so glad we have a loving creator who has seen all and knows all. I’m glad we can put our trust in his wise plans for us.
“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” - 2 Peter 3:8
Happy Easter
For Christians all over the world, today has a special significance as we remember that Jesus rose from the dead after three days. It has been the foundation of the gospel and the “good news” that Christians all over the world share. We certainly want to be part of sharing the “good news” as we share our school mission and share God’s love with our school children, families, and community. Happy Easter!
Front Office - Great News!
Thank you for your patience as we have worked to fill our front office position. In two weeks, Luminita Butler will join our school family. We are excited to have her join our staff. She will be joining us in a part-time position filling our morning hours from 8:00-12:30. The office will be unstaffed from 1:00-2:45. The principal will be in the office from 12:30 until 1:00 and 2:45-4:00 in the afternoons.
ECA Staffing During the Upcoming 7&8 Washington DC Trip
From April 7 - April 16, Mr. Gaylor and Ms. Lidia will be gone with the 7th & 8th grade students to Washington DC. Mr. Wyatt will be covering 5/6 classes and helping with staffing. Teachers from the elementary grades will be checking phones in the office at least once a day, but coverage in the office will be limited. If you need to communicate with the school during these dates, please consider reaching out to your child’s teacher directly through text or email.
Upcoming P/T Conferences
Our 4th quarter began Monday, March 30. Because our students in grades 7&8 will be gone for two weeks near the beginning of the new 4th quarter, our P/T conferences will be held later in April. Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24 will have scheduled conference times. You can schedule your conference times using the link to the Google Document below. This is a shared document for all of our families, so please add your times with care.
AG Program - Monday’s Science Class
On Monday, our AG Class will be for grades 3&4. Students will be outdoors doing a variety of things with Mr. Wyatt Johnson. Throughout the year, there may be a few rainy days. Boots and gloves are great things for working outdoors on Monday Science Days. Water bottles are great things to have outside too. Here is a schedule of the days and classes:
Monday, April 6 - Grades 3&4
Monday, April 13 - NO AG - NO School - Teacher Professional Growth Day
Monday, April 20 - Grades K-2
No School - Monday, April 13 - Makeup Day on April 17
There will be no school on Monday, April 13. Four times a year, our staff have professional development days. These are days set by our conference. We will have a makeup 1/2 day Friday on April 17.
You are Invited - UCA Music Concert at ECA
Something special will be happening on Friday, April 17. We will be having a music concert presented by a larger sister school, Upper Columbia Academy. UCA is on their Spring music tour and will be staying at our school the night before. Some of our ECA students have gone to UCA in the past and we are excited to welcome back Brianna Littman with the school tour. You are invited to attend this 8:30 morning program.
No School Newsletter next week. Newsletter will return on April 19
Because our middle school teachers will be gone with students to Washington D.C. for about two weeks, the school newsletter will not go out this next week. It will return on April 19.
Starting to Plan for Next Year!
Now that we are starting the 4th quarter, as a school, we start to look to next year in our school year planning. We are exploring a few different options that we are presenting to our school board later in April for approval. Some of these include discounts for early Spring reenrollment and tuition discounts for new family referrals. New families are beginning to reach out to us about school for next year. We have new families already enrolled for next year. As we finalize ways to say thank you for supporting Christian education, stay tuned for ways to preenroll your child for next year.
Hot Lunch for the Month
Christian Counseling Available - Free Resources:
The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.
We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.
These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.
In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
