God’s Beautiful Spring Colors
At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.
For many people living in the Pacific Northwest, spring is a renewal of the beauty of colors. All up and down the I-5 corridor, fields begin to blossom. Tulip festivals are just one way we can get excited about the upcoming sunny days. At ECA, the students’ hard work with winter planting and weeding is starting to let everyone know it is spring. Mr. Wyatt and the students planted a variety of winter crops: winter wheat, ginger, lettuce, lavender, and turmeric. Our Raspberry beds are swarming with honeybees anxious for a new season to begin.
The desert and the parched land will be glad;
the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus, 2 it will burst into bloom;
it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it,
the splendor of Carmel and Sharon;
they will see the glory of the Lord,
the splendor of our God.

Full 5-day Week
This week, we will have our 1/2 day Friday. That means this is the week for a Monday - Friday school week. This Friday, we will be taking flowers and cards to our neighbors on Zephyr Way in student groups. Even though it is a little past May Day, our neighbors enjoy feeling connected to our school and appreciate the spring colors in the flowers we share. Thank you for supporting our neighborhood by following posted speeds. Many neighbors have shared their appreciation for our families and students this year.
MAP Testing Results
We have a few students who need to finish testing tomorrow, Monday, May 4. Once all students have finished, teachers will have Spring MAP test results that will be shared with parents. Students are excited to share their growth. Look for test results this week to be passed out to families as children are picked up later in the week.
We are Excited to Begin Plans for Next Year…
One of the things that happens at school behind the scenes during spring is making a budget for the upcoming school year. Because we are part of a large conference with many schools, we have to have voted school budgets by the end of the year. Staff contracts and program obligations are set in the spring for the upcoming year. What does this mean for you? Every school in the Oregon Conference has a reenrollment period. During this time, schools ask families to pay a reenrollment fee to reserve their spot for the upcoming year. This year’s deadline to reserve a spot at a discounted family fee of $50 is Friday, May 8. In the following weeks, I will meet with our school board and we need to have firm enrollment numbers for a presented budget on May 21. Families that reenroll after May 8 will be charged a family reenrollment fee of $150. Plan now. You can let us know your plans for next year by clicking on the link below and reserving your spot for next year. Payment details can be added in the link.

The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.
We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.
These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.
In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
