Welcoming Our Visitors
At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.
Just a Short Message This Week
We are looking forward to our Visitation Day this Friday, February 13. Thank you all for helping get the word out. Also, thank you to the many helpers who have worked to fill in the voids as we work to get our staff at full capacity. We are still in the process of hiring a front-office position, but there has been progress and we continue to trust that God will bring just the right person. Speaking of the right person, we are excited to welcome our new custodian, Alanna Ortega. She joins us with experience working in Christian schools and we are glad to have her as part of our family.
So as we get ready for Friday, it is our last push for visitors. Our social media presence has increased, and we look forward to welcoming families. If you have any friends or family that are curious about Christian education, consider this an invitation to share our school. Even if children do not come for the day, this is an excellent chance for parents to come and visit the school and learn more. There will be a short time in the morning on Friday that I will meet and answer questions for new families. For many, I understand that finances are a consideration; however, know that we have strong community support for helping families and we have a fully-funded, healthy worthy student fund ready for next year.
“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” - Romans 15:7
Front Office Challenges this Week
Starting last week, the principal filled in the morning minutes and last hour of the day to provide an office presence during key check-in and departure times. This week, Mr. Gaylor will be with the 6th grade class away at Outdoor School. There will be no office personnel this M-Th. Teachers will be checking the office phone throughout the day, but if you arrive after morning drop-off, or arrive early for a pickup, there will not be anyone to answer the door. Again, we are working to get this position filled and we thank you for your patience.
The RING doorbell and office door cam are both tied to the principal’s phone. So ringing the doorbells won’t work this week if you need let in. For this week, the classroom just to the left of the office is the homeroom of Ms. Lidia, our 7th & 8th grade teacher. If you need in, just walk up to her classroom windows and knock on the window. She is ready to help you with any late or early arrivals or dismissals.
6th Grade Outdoor School this Week
Students in grade 6 will be leaving school this week and going to Big Lake Youth Camp for winter outdoor school. There are fun outdoor classes that join many of the 6th grade classes of other Adventist schools in Oregon. Students will leave school around 10:30 on Monday and return by 3:30 on Thursday.
8th Grade Class Fundraiser - Valentines at ECA
If you would like to support our 8th grade class, ask your student about the ECA Valentines packet that was sent out in late January.
AG Program - Monday’s Science Class
This week’s AG program is for grades 3&4. Students will be outdoors doing a variety of things with Mr. Wyatt Johnson. Throughout the year, there may be a few rainy days. Boots and gloves are great things for working outdoors on Monday Science Days. Water bottles are great things to have outside too. Here is a schedule of the days and classes:
Monday, February 9 - Grades 3&4
Monday, March 2 - Grades K-2
Hot Lunch for the Month
Christian Counseling Available - Free Resources:
The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.
We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.
These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.
In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
