Remembering Integrity
At ECA, our vision is that school families Love God, Value Learning, and Serve Others.
Citizenship & Integrity
Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. As we reflect on this holiday, there are traits that we admire in leaders and heroes. MLK, Jr. put it this way, “The time is always right to do right.” Is it still important for us today? According to Inc.com, “Billionaire Warren Buffett maintains that his success is largely dependent on hiring the right talent. While that sounds like conventional wisdom, here’s what’s not. On top of Buffett’s list of qualifications deemed as a non-negotiable, you’ll find one trait elevated above all job-related skills and qualifications (including IQ): Integrity.” Are we helping our students be prepared for middle school, high school, and beyond? It all begins with integrity.
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” - 2 Timothy 2:15
Cold Mornings Continue this Week…
As we move through the winter days, we want to make sure your family and children are safe. In addition to getting to school safely, please remember that sidewalks at school can be icy in the cold mornings. Please remind your children to walk carefully as they walk around the school campus in the early morning hours.
Generally speaking, ECA follows 4J school closures that are weather-related. If 4J has a late start or closure for weather related closures, ECA will do the same. Additionally, if Pleasant Hill Schools have a late start or closure related to weather and road conditions, ECA will do the same.
Our goal is to inform parents by 6:30 on the morning of weather-related late starts or closures. Typical causes are icy roads or snow accumulation. As we have learned in previous winters, power failures are also possible reasons. Notifications will be posted on local tv stations with Flash Alert and Remind announcements will be sent out to school families too.
Building Strong Readers for the Future!
ECA will be hosting Camp Read-a-Lot this week in our library. Students will be spending extra time reading this week. Make sure your child has books for the week.
ECA Winter Jog-a-thon in One Week!
Keeping your students healthy and moving during the winter months is so important. We are looking forward to next week’s Jog-a-thon. Your support will continue to help serve our children as we plan for extra-curricular activities throughout the year that we include as part of the school program. Things like Middle School Bible Camp, 6th Grade Outdoor School, and Elementary Swim Lessons are all things we build into the school year. Campus-Improvement projects also are part of our yearly expenses. Thank you for supporting our school and children.
How do we get the word out about Visitation Day?
Thanks for following us on Facebook and Instagram. Click on those likes, follows, and shares. We have paper flyers that can help spread the word too. If you would like a few flyers to pass out in the community, just stop by the office.
AG Program - Next Monday’s Science Class
No AG Monday this week. Next week’s AG program is for grades 5&6. Students will be outdoors doing a variety of things with Mr. Wyatt Johnson. Throughout the year, there may be a few rainy days. Boots and gloves are great things for working outdoors on Monday Science Days. Water bottles are great things to have outside too. Here is a schedule of the days and classes:
Monday, January 26 - Grades 5&6
Monday, February 2 - Grades 3&4
Monday, February 9 - Grades K-2
Hot Lunch for the Month
Christian Counseling Available - Free Resources:
The NAD (North American Division of SDA) has recently shared new resources for children and teens that offer a safe and anonymous place to talk or text. Here is a news release from the NAD.
We’re excited to announce the launch of www.aruggedjourney.org our newest NAD site providing free online mentoring for guys. A Rugged Journey joins www.gorgeous2god.org (for young women) which has grown in its scope and ministry since its beginning in 2017.
These sites, along with their counterparts on social media, provide free help to our teens/young adults in a space they can ask questions without judgment or fear. The questions are answered by a team of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists at AIM on the campus of Andrews University.
In addition to the confidential Q & A, positive content is provided through videos, posts, etc.
